Shipping options are the specific shipping methods available for selection in the order, for example “DHL Standard” or “Freight forwarding”. Using conditions such as shipping zone, shipping class, weight, and order total, you control precisely when an option is valid. This prevents an order from being processed with the wrong shipping method in the first place.
Shipping options always belong to a shipping group. Therefore, first create a shipping group. To learn how to apply a shipping option in the order afterwards, see Calculation in the order.

Navigate to the shipping options

Open the Shipping Groups list via Search and select the group for which you want to maintain shipping options. Then choose Shipping Options in the menu bar. The list of shipping options for this group opens.

Create a new shipping option

Choose New in the menu bar. A new line is created in which you maintain all of the following fields. Each entry is saved automatically.

Choose description, shipping zone, and shipping class

In Description, assign the name that will later appear in the order, for example “DHL Standard”.Using Shipping Zone Code, you link a shipping zone. The option then applies only to this zone.Using Shipping Class Code, you link a shipping class. During determination in the order, the option whose class has the highest priority prevails. For no particular prioritization, choose the default class, for example DEFAULT.

Activate the option

Using the Is Active checkbox, you enable the option. If the box is checked, the option is active; otherwise it is deactivated.
Deactivated shipping options are not taken into account in the order.

Filter by validity, weight, and order total

With the following fields, you narrow down when the option is valid at all:
  • Valid from and Valid until: Limit the option to a period. During calculation, filtering is based on the work date. Leave the fields empty if the option should apply indefinitely.
  • Weight from and Weight to: Minimum and maximum weight in kilograms. If the items of an order weigh outside this range, the option is not available. For DHL parcels, for example, you enter 31.5 kg in Weight to.
  • Order total from and Order total to: Valid range of the order total. If the total is outside, the option is not available.

Maintain shipping costs and free-shipping threshold

In Shipping Costs, you set the amount that is incurred for this option in the order.In Free-Shipping Threshold, you set an order total from which no more shipping costs are charged. This way, you make shipping free from a certain goods value.
As an alternative to a fixed amount, you can have the shipping costs calculated as a percentage of the order total via Percentage Shipping Costs.

Add a logo and long description

Using the Logo field, you upload an image that is displayed in the order. Click No in the field to open the explorer, drag an image into it via drag & drop, and confirm with OK.Using the Long Description field, you open an editor for a longer, freely formattable description text. You also confirm this with OK.

Link carrier and transport method

So that the correct carrier and the correct transport method appear in the order, you link them here:
  • Carrier Code: Choose the appropriate carrier. The stored carrier is automatically entered in the order.
  • Carrier Transport Method Code: Choose the appropriate transport method, which is also automatically transferred to the order.
For a DHL standard delivery, for example, you choose the carrier code DHL and the transport method STANDARD.

Add delivery terms and a text module

Using Delivery Term Code, you link a delivery term. When the option is inserted, the stored text module is automatically transferred to the order as an additional line after the shipping costs line.Using Order Text Module, you store an additional, freely formattable text module that is inserted below the delivery terms.
The shipping option is complete. Manual saving is not required.

Translate, sort, and copy

For the finishing touches, you have further actions in the menu bar:
  • Translations: Store the texts of the option in additional languages for multilingual touchpoints.
  • Move up and Move down: Determine the order of the options. It applies when the manual default sorting is selected in the setup.
  • Copy Shipping Option: Takes the selected option as a template to create further options with less effort.

Create shipping classes for filtering by item classification.
