Setup
- Descriptive labels: Name shipping options unambiguously (e.g. “DHL Standard up to 5 kg”) so it is clear in the order what is being selected.
- Keep ranges seamless: Weight and order total should follow one another without gaps, otherwise there will be orders for which no option is valid.
- Do not filter too narrowly: Very narrow weight or total ranges quickly lead to no option matching at all.
Controlling the selection
- Manage overlaps deliberately: If several options can be valid at the same time, you control which comes first via Priority or the sorting (Move up/Move down).
- Use the default sorting: In the Setup, use Default sorting shipping options to define the order in which options generally appear.
Maintenance
- Limit promotions in time: Use Valid from/to to restrict time-limited shipping promotions.
- Deactivate cleanly: Instead of deleting an option, you can temporarily disable it via Is Active and reactivate it later.
- Copy instead of retyping: Create similar options more quickly via Copy shipping option and then only adjust the differences.
