Goal: a voucher with a balance that works like a gift card and can be redeemed across multiple purchases until the amount is used up.

Create a Coupon Code as a Value Voucher

Open the Coupon Codes list, select New, and enter the Code and Description. Set the Value Type to Amount and additionally enable the Value Voucher toggle.For details, see Creating Coupon Codes.

Generate Voucher Lines with a Balance

Select Generate Voucher Lines and define the prefix/suffix and the number of lines in the Configuration. Enter the desired balance in the Amount field under Voucher Type (for example, 10.00).
Conditions such as a minimum order value or a maximum number of uses are usually disabled for value vouchers, since they represent a balance.
Confirm with OK.

Issue and Track the Remaining Balance

Issue the codes to the customer. With each redemption, the used amount is deducted. You can see the current remaining balance in the Amount Available field.
The value voucher is ready for use and can be redeemed across multiple orders.
