A coupon code is the umbrella over multiple coupon lines. It defines which type of voucher is involved (for example a value voucher or a percentage discount). The individual codes that your customers later enter are stored as coupon lines under this coupon code.

Creating a Coupon Code

Open the Coupon Codes list

Open the Coupon Codes list via Search. It displays all existing coupon codes with Code, Description, Amount Available, and the number of existing and released coupon codes.

Create a new coupon code

Select New in the menu bar. The coupon code card opens with the General area.

Maintain general information

  • Code: The unique code of the voucher. It must not contain any spaces or certain special characters.
  • Description: A freely selectable text, for example “Value voucher 10 €”.
  • Coupon Group: Optional assignment to a coupon group (for example B2C-WEBSHOP), through which vouchers can be bundled.

Selecting the Value Type

Using the Value Type field, you define which type of coupon lines are created under this coupon code:
  • Amount: Lines waive a fixed amount of the invoice for the customer.
  • Percent: Lines grant a percentage discount on the invoice.
  • Item: Lines add a specific item to the order free of charge.
  • Special Shipping: Lines unlock special shipping conditions, for example free shipping.
The Special Shipping value type can only be used if you also use the dynamic commerce Webshop, since the special shipping conditions are provided through the shop.
Value or discount voucher? A discount voucher grants a discount when the code is entered (as an amount, percentage, free item, or special shipping). A value voucher, on the other hand, works like a means of payment: the loaded balance does not expire and can be used across multiple purchases until the value is exhausted.

Activate value voucher if needed

If you have selected Amount as the value type, you can additionally activate the Value Voucher toggle. The generated coupon lines then become value vouchers (reusable balance instead of a one-time discount).The read-only Amount Available field displays the remaining balance for value vouchers.
The coupon code has been created. Next, you generate the associated coupon lines.
