# Language Switcher

> Embed language selection for multilingual websites.

The content type **Language Switcher** displays a selection of the available languages of your website. Users can use it to switch to the respective translation of the current page.

## Selecting the Content Type

In the editor of a page, shopping world, or building block, click **+ New**, then in the **System** tab click **Language Switcher**. The **"New Language Switcher"** dialog opens.

## Fields

### General

| Field           | Meaning                                                                                  |
| --------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Description** | Internal name of the language switcher (default: Language Switcher, max. 255 characters) |

### Publication

| Field           | Meaning                                                                           |
| --------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Layout Area** | Area of the page layout in which the language switcher appears (default: Content) |
| **Active**      | Makes the language switcher visible                                               |
